GUIDELINES FOR GOLF

  1. GROUP PLAY-Competition takes place on Thursday mornings at 8:30am. All members must check-in in the Pro Shop by 8:I Sam. Sign in for sweeps, cart and check on any special formats, rules, or conditions for the day. Members will be assigned a starting tee in threesomes (or twosomes) except during special events and "cart path only" days, when we play in foursomes.
  2. SCORECARDS-At least two players must keep score. One Player keeping score on Golf Genius and the other on a regular scorecard. Each group is responsible for the scores entered into Golf Genius. Scores must be entered before 12:45pm. To be eligible for sweeps, it is each player's responsibility to check scorecards for accuracy before 12:45pm.
  3. PACE OF PLAY-It is important for all players to be aware of their pace of play and to keep up with the group in front of them. If you fall behind, work together to catch up on the next hole. All players should review the Pace of Play Guidelines posted in the Ladies Locker Room.
  4. USGA RULES-All play shall be in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and any local rules printed on the scorecard. As per the local rule adopted 9/6/12, to speed pace of play, players are allowed to hit a Provisional Ball over the barranca on #18 before determining whether their first ball is in play or lost in the hazard. They must announce the second as a "provisional" ball, as per the USGA Rules.
  5. SWEEPS-A minimum of three members must be present for Sweeps (Pro Shop Credit) to be paid. Each player must "hole-out" (no "gimmies") on each hole to be eligible for sweeps. If someone picks-up out of frustration or due to injury, they must put an "X" after their maximum score on that hole (for posting purposes) and are no longer eligible for sweeps that day. An "NR" (Not Recorded) must be noted in place of the Net Score so the Pro Shop knows the player has disqualified herself from the sweeps. A player is still eligible for EC on all completed holes.
  6. POSTING SCORES-Because we are playing for prizes it is important that all are playing on a level playing field. Players should have accurate handicaps based on timely posting of all rounds played at SJCC and elsewhere. The Pro Shop will post the scores on regular play days (if a player NR's they must post their own score). If/when tournament scores will be posted as "T-scores" by the Pro Shop, players will be notified in advance not to post their own score-the Pro Shop will do it for all players. Members are reminded to adjust scores using Net Double Bogey adjustment (Rules of Handicapping Rule 3.1) The maximum score for each hole played is limited to a

net double bogey, calculated as follows:

Par of the hole+ 2 strokes+ any handicap stroke(s) that the player receives on that hole

  7. CAPTAIN'S TROPHY DAYS-Once a month players compete for the Captain's Trophy. In addition to regular sweeps, special/additional prizes are awarded to players with the Overall Low Net and Low Gross scores and the player with the Fewest Putts. At the end of the year a Tournament is held to determine the year's Captain's Trophy Champion.
  8. GUEST DAYS-"Guest Days" are held each year where members are encouraged to bring a guest to play at SJCC. Guests must have an established 18-hole handicap or converted 9-hole handicap. Guests with no established handicap will play to scratch (0 handicap). A maximum handicap of 36 will be allowed for these events. Guest Day Chairperson will provide sign-up sheets. Cost includes 1-2 meals, golf with cart and sweeps/prizes. Members electing not to participate in Guest Day may be allowed to follow the field in foursomes but will not be part of the sweeps. Refer to Guest Day Protocol in the Ladies Locker Room
  9. LADIES ATTIRE-All members are expected to be aware of and dress in accordance with the SJCC Dress Code (refer to the SJCC website). It is the responsibility of each member to inform her guests of the dress code prior to their arrival.
  10. ADDITIONAL TOURNAMENTS-Additional special tournaments are held throughout the year (refer to the calendar section of this Membership Roster) and will be announced in advance with sign-up sheets, format, rules, fee, and additional information posted in the Ladies Locker Room and distributed on-line. For most of these events regular sweeps are not awarded; each tournament has its own budget from which they award prizes. All tournaments listed on Page 3.
